Brand Security

The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is continuously adopting new measures to protect Americans from the growing problem of counterfeit drugs. At the same time, increased regulatory efforts at the state level are compelling drug manufacturers and/or distributors to provide additional documentation regarding the chain of custody of drug products at each stage of distribution. These efforts are indicative of the growing pressure to enhance the integrity of the drug supply chain.

Maxiom Group's Brand Security Practice focuses on helping companies design and implement drug anti-counterfeiting security solutions. From ePedigree to Track and Trace solutions, Maxiom Group is helping to alleviate concerns on both state and federal levels for manufacturers, distributors and life sciences technology providers. Our services include:

  • Brand Security Strategies
  • ePedigree Education and Awareness
  • Supply Chain Integrity and Risk Assessment
  • ePedigree Solution Selection and Implementation

Maxiom Group works with drug manufacturers and distributors to develop specific brand security plans that meet the FDA's requirements and prepare for future regulations. We help with the development of business processes to create a pedigree-a certified chain of custody detailing distribution of each drug from manufacturer to consumer. We also assist with the selection and implementation of information systems to capture an electronic pedigree (ePedigree).

Our practitioners bring a deep understanding of the best business practices, technologies and integration strategies that make possible drug tracking solutions which are compliant, efficient, flexible and scalable.

A global biotechnology leader retained Maxiom Group to provide project management and facilitation support for the selection of a vendor for ePedigree creation and management in order to meet State of California mandates.

Maxiom Group assisted the company in establishing the ePedigree Core Team and led them through an evaluation to select an appropriate vendor.  With support from Maxiom Group, the Core Team developed a set of detailed functional requirements for the ePedigree solution, and identified the application vendors in the ePedigree space.  The Core Team arrived at a short list of qualified vendors. In addition, members of the Core Team investigated several potential deployment models for the ePedigree solution, including an internally deployed model, a hosted solution, and partnership with a 3PL (Third Party Logistics) partner.  The Core Team continued its evaluation of two ePedigree solution providers in order to make a recommendation regarding their preferred solution to their 3PL.

Maxiom Group supported the ePedigree Study effort by providing expertise, research resources, established tools, facilitation and project management of the team’s activities.
